Wokingham Borough Council is inviting residents to take part in a fun public competition to come up with creative and memorable names for its brand-new fleet of waste collection lorries and street cleaning vehicles, due to start service this summer. (Wokingham Borough Council)

You might have seen quirky vehicle names in other places – like Bin Diesel or Sweep Caroline – and the council is hoping residents will match that imagination with ideas of their own. (Wokingham Borough Council)

How to Enter:
Submit your suggested names through the online form by 30 January. After that, a panel including councillors and council staff will shortlist the entries. (Wokingham Borough Council)

Public Vote & Winners:
From 9–27 February, the shortlisted names will go to a public vote. The winners will be revealed on 6 March, and the chosen names will be displayed on the vehicles when they begin operations on 1 June. (Wokingham Borough Council)

Prizes will be given by Biffa, the council’s new waste and street cleansing contractor, and winning entries from school pupils will also earn a special visit from the newly named vehicle later in the year. (Wokingham Borough Council)

These new vehicles form part of a major service upgrade. They feature modern technology to help improve efficiency and safety, and support the council’s environmental goals by including more fuel-efficient models and smaller electric vehicles. (Wokingham Borough Council)

Residents are encouraged to share the competition with family, friends and local schools to help boost participation. (Wokingham Borough Council)
