Thames Valley Police has confirmed that a murder investigation is underway following the death of a woman in Reading on Sunday, 7 September.

Emergency services were called to an address on the A4 London Road, near Regent Street, at around 2.35pm after reports of a stabbing. Tragically, a 39-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 29-year-old man from Reading has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
The victim has not yet been formally identified, and officers are in the process of locating and informing her next of kin.
A police cordon was in place for several hours while forensic investigations were carried out. The A4 was closed to traffic but has since reopened.
Police Statement
Detective Chief Inspector Stuart May, of Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit, said:
“We are in the very early stages of this murder investigation, but we have made an arrest and we are not currently looking for anyone else. There is no known threat to the wider public.
“We have been unable to speak to the victim’s next of kin yet so please be mindful and avoid speculating online.
“Members of the public are likely to see an increased police presence while we continue to investigate and we would advise anyone with any concerns to please speak to one of our uniformed officers. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by our scene but please be patient while we investigate.”
