A large-scale police operation is currently under way in the east of Reading this evening (Sunday), with multiple roads closed off as officers continue investigations.
London Road, Cholmeley Road and Cholmeley Terrace have been cordoned off, and a significant police presence remains at the scene. Witnesses report seeing officers carrying out door-to-door enquiries across the neighbourhood.

The incident is understood to have begun shortly after 2pm, when a convoy of police vehicles and ambulances arrived in the area. Since then, forensic teams in white suits have been observed entering and leaving several properties.
At this stage, the nature of the incident has not been confirmed. Thames Valley Police are yet to release an official statement.
Despite the disruption, residents say the community is largely calm, with people continuing their day-to-day activities while the investigation continues.
We will update this story as soon as more details are confirmed by Thames Valley Police.
