More than 100 volunteers gave up their Christmas Day morning to support vulnerable and elderly residents across the Wokingham community, delivering a memorable festive experience filled with care, companionship and celebration.

The volunteers gathered at the Wade Day Centre, where a Christmas Day lunch was hosted for local elderly people. The event was attended by the Mayor of Wokingham Town, the Mayor of Wokingham Borough and the Mayor of Earley, underlining the importance of the occasion and the strength of community support behind it.

Organised through the Wokingham Link system, the scale of the volunteer effort was a remarkable sight, with people coming together to ensure those most in need were looked after on Christmas Day.
The afternoon was enhanced by live entertainment and traditional Christmas carols, creating a joyful and welcoming atmosphere that ensured guests enjoyed a truly special day.
Events like this highlight the outstanding volunteer spirit within Wokingham and the powerful role community organisations play in bringing people together, especially at Christmas.

It’s a big ‘thank you’ to all the volunteers who supported our Christmas Day Lunch!
