British broadcaster Sky has today revealed a sweeping overhaul of its TV and streaming offerings—making multiple major international streaming platforms available through a single Sky Ultimate TV package for the first time.
The move, described by Sky as a “world-first” integrated subscription, will see Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max and hayu all included alongside Sky’s own channels and original content in one place.
🔥 What’s in the bundle?
-
Sky Ultimate TV subscribers will have access to:
-
Netflix
-
Disney+ (starting with the ad-supported tier)
-
HBO Max (basic with ads from the UK launch date)
-
hayu
-
Sky’s own channels and Sky Originals and exclusives
-
Over 130 linear channels as part of the traditional Sky TV lineup
-
Sky says this package delivers more than £20 worth of streaming services for a single monthly price from £24 for new customers—a savings pitch that undercuts the cost of taking these services individually.
📅 Roll-out timeline
-
Disney+ Standard with Ads will be integrated into Sky’s platform from March 2026.
-
HBO Max Basic with Ads will join at launch in the UK on 26 March 2026, coinciding with HBO Max’s official debut in the region.
-
hayu, NBCUniversal’s reality-focused streamer, will be added later in the year, with samples of its content available from March.
Existing Sky TV customers across different hardware platforms—Sky Q, Sky Glass, and Sky Stream—will see these services integrated into their existing subscriptions automatically, with discounts applying if they already hold higher-tier streaming plans.
🎬 Why it matters
Industry analysts describe the move as a strategic countermove to the increasingly fragmented streaming landscape, where rights, exclusivity and standalone platform wars have pushed consumers toward juggling multiple subscriptions.
For Sky, the decision follows the end of long-standing exclusive rights to HBO programming on linear channels such as Sky Atlantic, with HBO Max set to host future Warner Bros. content directly. Integrating HBO Max into a bundle helps keep blockbuster and premium series in Sky’s ecosystem even as distribution models shift.
The Disney+ deal also builds on a new multi-year distribution agreement between Sky and Disney, expanding Sky’s reach for Disney content in the UK and Ireland and adding features such as a dedicated Disney Cinema channel for Sky Cinema customers.
📺 The streaming landscape shaking up
With this announcement, Sky joins other services trying to simplify the subscription model for customers and fend off competition from standalone players like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+ and Paramount+. The strategy reflects broader industry trends toward bundling and platform convergence in an age where exclusive content is king—and consumer fatigue over many small subscriptions is growing.
In summary: Sky’s new Ultimate TV subscription aims to unite multiple major streamers in one place at an aggressive price, starting this spring in the UK and Ireland, challenging traditional streaming models and promising value and simplicity for viewers.
