Residents have raised concerns about road safety at a busy Finchampstead junction after several recent collisions were reportedly linked to the removal of a historic war memorial.
The junction — where Rectory Hill meets The Ridges and Jubilee Road — was once widely known locally as “War Memorial Junction.” The memorial was relocated in recent years following safety concerns and discussions about redesigning the crossroads.
However, villagers now claim accidents have increased since the landmark was moved, arguing the memorial previously acted as a visual reminder for drivers to slow down when approaching the intersection.
