The A329(M) remains closed this evening following a serious crash near the Winnersh turn-off by the Davis Street overbridge, causing severe disruption and what many drivers are describing as “traffic hell”.

Initial reports came into us at around 5:31pm, and at the time of writing (8:15pm) traffic remains at a complete standstill.

Eyewitnesses report a sea of blue flashing lights along the carriageway, with multiple emergency services at the scene. Queues stretch for miles in both directions.

Photographer Paul King, who was at the scene at around 8pm, said he witnessed motorists walking along the hard shoulder near the Winnersh turn-off after being stuck for a prolonged period.

However, police have urged motorists NOT to get out of their vehicles, warning that it is dangerous to do so while emergency services are dealing with the incident.

Drivers are being advised to avoid the area entirely and use alternative routes where possible, as recovery work is ongoing and delays are expected to continue.

So many accidents happening in the Wokingham area recently. Hatch Farm Way junction is a real risk area, take care there – don’t assume other vehicles are operating to the traffic lights there…..

Paul Kevin Houldcroft I also wonder how many licenses have been granted from reciprocal arrangements with other countries 🤔

Wayne Mason I know when chatting to a copy he had stated that was targeting drivers with the P on as they was using this to discuss not having a valid UK licence dont need to say anymore 😉

Wayne Mason so you’re blaming foreigners for an RTA? Slightly presumptuous maybe….

Wayne Mason so your curiosity about people with driving licenses from other countries, in response to a comment about drivers with no observation, manners and self entitlement, is purely coincidental and unrelated? Ok.

Spelling and punctuation have also dropped to an all time low, Mr Houldcroft! Although I do agree with your comments, which apply particularly to us old folk.

Graham Taylor my spelling and punctuation has deteriorated with ageing but it’s not likely to traffic chaos or harm to others. You made a pointless remark to imply superiority. The need to make it proves otherwise

It’s no surprise… the state of driving ability these days is absolutely shocking. The authorities (central government, local council and police) need to wake up… traffic cameras (probably 10x what’s already in use) to catch these dickheads, issue fines & points on licence leading to bans! Those who drive whilst banned should be banned for 10 years. The state of driving in Bradford is far worse than the Reading & Wokingham areas and the police and local council just turn a blind eye. The country is at a crisis point. The police do their job, the judges/courts hands are tied as the prisons are full and the dickhead drivers know this. It all comes down to the UK’s lack of an effective immigration policy… the NHS is struggling on its knees, there’s not enough schools, there’s not enough houses and the government place ‘those being processed through the system’ in hotels whilst bonafide UK citizens on the bread line are left homeless and/or can’t afford to eat/heat their home. The UK’s problems are far greater than dickhead drivers, when is the government going to wake up?

Lights and speed control is required on the A329. This carnage could’ve resulted in someone trying to join the A329 from Wokingham. The road is dangerous and has clearly caused carnage by someone in too much of a hurry!! Kill your speed.

I was also driving towards Bracknell, having witnessed an accident at Winnersh just two days earlier, where the fire brigade had to remove the roof from a car. Once again, thank you, and I hope no one was seriously injured. A huge shout-out to the 🚔 🚒 and 🚑 services!

Could it possibly have something to do with WBC road planners that see fit to dig up roads / diversions every direction you try to take , all the new houses , new roads we all pay tax for while they destroy what’s left of our once peaceful area for greedy developers , incompetent councillors road planners , diversions , road works , no parking room / extortionate and getting worse , takes 45 minutes to get to Wokingham centre from FInchampstead , giving us a chance to see the mess , chaos , destruction and greed , stressing people , ruining businesses, to the point where people at breaking point with all this crap got anything to do with all the accidents maybe ??? By any chance ?? 😡😡😡
