Hurst Show & Country Fayre is taking place this weekend (this Sat 25th and Sun 26th June 2022) and will feature a Guinness World Record Attempt the organizers are asking for anyone to get involved. You don’t need a fancy filly! All you need to make yourself a hobby horse is a sock and a stick
Why not take the hobby horse record-breaking challenge and break your own records?
Hurst show, a traditional Country Fair that has been taking place for centuries is connected with hubby horses beginning twenty years ago when they were introduced as a replacement due to Foot and Mouth Disease in the United Kingdom.
it’s no secret that hobby horses are now an integral part of the show. So, we had to take charge and attempt what some people think is impossible – breaking a Guinness World Record for the largest stick-horse parade!
What Involved?
With 250 participants and the help of our fabulous show supporters, we can break the current record!
So come join the fun on Sunday 26th June! There are always people running around with their hobbies in hand.
The Trusty Horse Steeds will lead you through our village while everyone else watches from afar. It’s time for some good old-fashioned horse riding adventures.
How To Get Involved?
Why not try to set a new world record? You can get involved by following these simple steps.
- Take part by pre-registration by:
-answering simple pre-registration questions when you buy tickets online.
-filling out a registration form on the website, before buying your tickets on the day.
- Gather your riding gear and prepare yourself. Get ready to ride in style with a fancy dress!
- Gallop on Sunday 26 June and collect your numbered sticker from Martineau green
- Our stewards will position you in the blocks and the starter’s orders are at 2 pm.
- Walk around the parade route
- Reward your horse for all of its hard work with a well-deserved treat
Important Need-to-knows!
The Guinness World Records are a tough bunch, so don’t get discouraged if you’re not immediately granted approval. You’ll need to follow these guidelines precisely in order for your application and story of achievement to be considered!
- If you want to help us manage the numbers, please pre-register!
- Participants must have their number stickers prominently displayed to be counted in the count attempt. You are welcome at 1:15 pm for the collection of these numbers!
- Number stickers are limited and we will issue them on a first-come, served- basis. We reserve the right to turn people away due to our health & safety concerns for unregistered people.
- All participants must display a homemade or commercial stick horse that has a clearly defined head.
- There must be no significant gaps in the flow of stick horses or else riders will get too far apart so they’re not able to pass each other safely during parading time!
