A team from Holme Grange School in Wokingham partnered with The Thomas Franks Foundation and City Harvest for an extraordinary community event recently.
Surplus food, featuring Quorn, desiccated coconut, and spice sachets, was skilfully transformed into delicious meals by an adept team led by Azdin and Sue.
More than 100 dedicated volunteers, including children, parents, and staff, worked tirelessly to label, portion, and pack 10,000 meals. Thanks to Savona Foodservice, these nutritious meals will reach 200 charities in London. This unprecedented community effort combats food waste, aiding 5,000 deprived families. Over 12 tonnes of surplus food are now nourishing those in need — 10,000 meals, once destined for waste, make a positive impact.
