Woodley Volunteer Community Group need help from Wokingham residents to help fund their 5th lifesaving trip to Ukraine.
The volunteer group was originally set up to help Woodley’s residents during the COVID 19 pandemic. Founder Ronnie Goodberry explained to My Wokingham that he has made 4 trips to war-torn Ukraine. He and local resident Duane Harris have been taking medical supplies, food and toiletries to help which are delivered directly to those who have had to flee their homes and lives in Ukraine. The trips involve deliveries of urgent needly supplies to field hospitals and also a refugee processing hub
The trip to Ukraine involves a visit to cities including Kyiv and takes 2 days and another 2 days to get back to Woodley in Wokingham.
The rising cost of fuel has affected us all and his trip is now so expensive that Wokingham resident donations are needed to continue Ronnie Goodberry’s and his team’s mission.

During the journey, Ronnie and Duane Harris visit a refugee processing hub on the Ukraine border that is seeing over 1000 people processed per day
Facebook Volunteers Group Announcement on May 4th 2022
At the request of several members of the local area, we have agreed to start another collection of goods and finance to send more urgently needed aid out to the Ukrainian refugees both in Ukraine and the surrounding border areas of Poland. We have formed a link with a distribution and donations hub in Katowice and will be taking all donations to this centre where we will also donate three or more days of our time volunteering inside the hub directly helping refugees obtain food and essential items. This hub receives no formal financing from either the DEC, Red Cross or the Polish Govt but continues to feed and clothe over 1100 refugees daily.
