The latest news update for Sinkhole in Evendons Lane reveals surveyors marking the road where possible weaknesses occur
Today we visited Evendons Lane in Wokingham the scene of a dramatic sinkhole that appeared directly outside the school gates of Evendons Lane Primary School over the night of the 30th September 2022. The sinkhole was biggest enough to swallow up a water tanker vehicle which was there as part of works to the road by Thames Water. Local residents had complained of blocked sewage pipes.
A spokesperson for Thames Water said:
“We’re very sorry to our customers impacted by the road closure on Evendons Lane, RG41. “Whilst supporting the repair of a collapsed sewer one of our larger vehicles has sunk in to a hole in the road.
Today the site had a large amount of activity and in particular a survey company using specilists equipment to survey the structure of the road. The road has now been marked with several points of note and in one area that has painted cross-hatching, it appears they will be digging out a hole.
We speculate that they may have found other sinkholes BUT this is merely speculation as we haven’t been any formal announcements at this stage. Please see our video report
