A water tanker lorry owned by Lanes Drains that is stuck in a large sinkhole in Evendons Lane Wokingham may mean road closures until December.
Initially, Thames water said the road will be closed for a few days to remove the water tanker, stating they will have to make sure there are no other sinkholes in the area before we bring a 100-ton crane to remove the lorry out of the sinkhole. Its now clear that a work permit request has been extended until 2nd December to allow Thames Water the time to fully rectify the situation. Removing the sunken tanker is only part of the job once the tanker has been removed it will take some time to repair the pipe which is 4.2 meters deep in the ground.
The council is considering requests for a one-way in and one-way out road system using Edneys Hill and Blagrove Lane to help relive the traffic nightmares residents are facing each day in the vicinity
