A sell out benefit concert for Ukraine was held on Friday 17th February 2023 at Reading Town hall and was attended by la host of local leaders including Wokingham Borough Council leader Clive Jones and the Woodley’s Deputy Major Beth Rowland. Reading leader including MP Alok Sharma and Reading Major Rachel Eden.
Reading’s BBC’s Matt Allwright, presenter on The One Show along with Mel Bloor of ITV Meridian. Amongst the acts were the outstanding dance ensemble “ Prolisok”, who appeared on the BBCs One Show. The dance group premiered a special written dance for the fundraising event.
Other acts include Mirage, who perform a modern take on Ukrainian songs. Playing the bandura the national instrument of Ukraine is London ensemble “Band Era” who took part in BBC’s Radio Berks carol concert in 2022.

The concert featured flamboyant performances and beautiful costumes from across Ukraine rich culture. People experienced Ukrainian dancing, music including a violinists, poems and singing.
Antonio Gresko, Chairman of the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain (AUGB) – Reading Branch said
“Music and dance is very powerful when it comes to showing support for Ukraine. The talented Ukrainian and British performers from across the UK are proud and privileged to be working with Reading AUGB, Reading Council and Reading Lord Mayors office on such an important fundraising event.”
The money raised from the event is going to be donated to provide medical aid, food, hygiene and warm clothing to those in need.
