There was traffic chaos last night after flooding caused a road in Sindlesham to be closed.
Mill Lane, Sindlesham is closed between B3270 Lower Earley Way North and B3030 Mole Road, due to flooding after the River Loddon burst its banks so traffic was forced to find alternative routes. Sandford Lane between Woodley and Hurst is also closed due to flooding.
The government’s website said: “Property flooding is not currently expected. River levels are rising on the River Loddon as a result of a period of sustained rain. The forecast for 4th January 2024 was for further heavy rainfall therefore, flooding of low lying land remains a risk in the Sindlesham area over the coming days.
“We are closely monitoring the situation. Please remain safe and aware of your local surroundings. Avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and refer to the ‘River and Sea levels in England’ webpage for current river levels.”
