Dozens of people turned up to the Market Place on Sunday to help create a collaborative artwork with chalk themed around ‘reflecting’.
Chalk About It provided an opportunity to join in with a collaborative artwork and express yourself through art. It could be as simple as just adding some colour to the piece, regardless of age or perceived artistic ability. Wokingham Town Mayor Sally Gurney put her artistic skills to the test. And if you needed to talk about anything, mental health organisations were on hand to direct people to resources and support.
A spokesman said: “We had a lovely sunny day decorating the Market Place, having good conversations and finding connections. This year’s theme was ‘Reflecting’ with the collaborative piece based on mirror neurons (very clever cells in the brain), and options to chalk your own individual thought bubble and paint yourself (on paper) at the Plein Air painting.
“Many thanks goes in particular to UrbanCanvas our artists, as well as Mindset Unlimited and Kaleidoscopic UK our mental health and wellbeing partners this year.”
