Wokingham’s Labour Party has officially announced Monica Hamidi as their candidate for the Wokingham constituency. Monica’s selection is a notable development in the run-up to the upcoming elections, as she aims to bring change to an area that has traditionally been under Conservatives.
In her acceptance speech, Monica expressed her enthusiasm for the role: “I am delighted to have been selected as the Labour’s candidate for Wokingham. For too long we have been ignored and let down by the Tory Government. I promise as your local voice to stand up for our communities, to fight for what is right, and be part of delivering the change this country needs.”
Monica has experience as a councillor and a caseworker for a Member of Parliament. She believes her background gives her insight into the challenges faced by Wokingham residents. “I came into politics to change people’s lives for the better – and that means changing the government,” she stated. “The choice is between a Labour government or more of the same under the Conservatives.”
She emphasised her commitment to addressing local issues and supporting Labour’s broader agenda. “Wokingham needs a Labour MP who will speak up for our area and who will support the Labour’s agenda for change,” Monica said.
Monica’s campaign will focus on engaging with residents and addressing what she describes as “years of Tory chaos.” She believes that only a Labour government can provide a brighter future. “As a councillor and as a caseworker for a member of Parliament, I have seen at first hand the hardship the years of Tory chaos have inflicted on our people and our country. Only Labour can bring the change we need,” she remarked.
In her latest tweet, Monica highlighted her campaign message, pointing to what she views as the current government’s failures: “This country needs change. In 14 years, #Wokingham has been let down again and again by a government that has sent taxes up, ruined public services, and failed to grow the economy. John Redwood has given 37 years of public service, and he sees that it is time for change too.”
As the election approaches, Monica’s campaign will focus on connecting with Wokingham residents, listening to their concerns, and presenting Labour’s vision for the future.
