An annual summer party proved to be the icing on the cake for Wokingham’s Town Mayor as it was her final public engagement in office.
Link Visiting Scheme Wokingham in collaboration with Age UK Berkshire threw a party to celebrate the King’s Coronation held at Carnival Hub in the heart of Wokingham.
The town’s older folks were treated to cakes, sandwiches and refreshment’s that all went down a treat.
Wokingham’s Town Mayor Cllr Maria Gee and her husband Chris Gee popped in to have a chat with the folks enjoying the party on Friday afternoon. There was also live entrainment and the sounds of clapping hands to the beat of the music.
Cllr Gee told My Wokingham: “This is my 100th public in engagement and what a nice way to end as Town Mayor with all of our older folks partying. Wokingham Town Council funded this nice party and it’s lovely to see people waving flags and with their party hats on.”
The Mayor and her consort paid a visit to every table, speaking and joking with guests as they made their way around.
