John Redwood MP was present at today’s local Proclamation that took place at 2pm outside Wokingham Town Hall. The proclamation is a very old tradition that can be traced back over many centuries, this was one of the first times when communities could come together and reflect on this historic moment.
John Redwood has been the MP for Wokingham since 1987 and has made a series of tweets expressing how he and the nation feels after the Death of Elizabeth 11.

We all have grief in our hearts at the death of the Queen. She was part of our lives, a constant in the great events of our nation. We have lost our greatest diplomat. The royal family mourns a mother and grandmother. Many people cherish memories of her kindness.
The three great Queens, the two Elizabeths, and Victoria reigned for 178 years. Their achievements have offered examples and expectations to generations of women and girls, helping us move to a world where opportunity opens for many more.
The monarch represents the full sovereign power of the people on the express understanding that others decide how it is used. The Queen’s success was representing the democratic system without commenting on the decisions made by Parliament.
In my tribute to the Queen yesterday in the Commons time did not allow me to recall her at Margaret Thatcher’s 80 th birthday party. The Queen showed great warmth and understanding to Margaret as she faced the infirmities of her later years.
