Residents of Wokingham Borough were warned about flooding after the River Loddon burst its banks on Boxing Day.
Data from the Government website showed water levels for the River Loddon at Sindlesham Mill peaked early on Monday, December 26, and at 07.00 were recorded at 0.57 metres.This is classified as being at the top of the normal range of levels for this monitoring station.
The highest recorded levels at this monitoring station 2007 happened in July when a level of 1.45 metres was noted.
A flood alert was issued by the Environment Agency on the morning of Christmas Eve covering the River Loddon and areas including Swallowfield, Arborfield, Shinfield, Barkham, Lower Early, Sindlesham, Winnersh, Woodley, Hurst and Waltham St Lawrence.
A flood alert also remained in force at 07,00 on December 26, for the Lower River Loddon at its confluence with the River Thames for Twyford, Charvil and Wargrave,
At the same time the Emm Brook was also the subject of a flood alert, with advice to monitor local water levels and weather conditions, avoid using low lying footpaths and avoid entering areas that are prone to flooding
A flood alert is the lowest of three warnings, suggesting those in affected areas should be prepared, The warning increase in intensity up to severe.
