Firefighters on Blue lights from Bracknell fire station raced to a call of a fire in the open at Emmbrook Vale in Wokingham on Saturday evening 13th August 2022. On arrival, they found a tree on fire in a wooded area of a local park. The potential for a large wood fire that could have spread to housing is unthinkable. Fire crews have handed to call over to Thames Valley Police, fire crews said this is arson we sent only one fire crew here due to the number of fire calls that we are dealing with at this time due to the heat wave.
The way things are at this time you could get a fire crew from any fire station not necessarily your local station. We have a huge number of fire calls coming into our fire control room in Reading.
Royal Berkshire fire and rescue service has moved into ‘Oscar’ mode which means a separate control room has been opened up within the same building to deal with the number of fire calls coming in at this time during the heat wave.
People of Berkshire are being asked NOT to have BBQs at this time and don’t throw disused glass bottles on the ground and take them home with you, also asking people not to have bonfires in their gardens the ground is so tinder dry and fire will spread quickly.

Also, Saturday evening fire crews were also called to a leaking BBQ gas bottle in the Wokingham area
