Foodies and cooking enthusiasts have been invited to join a new cooking club in Winnersh.
Founder Anya Peach said: “This is for those who love to cook and eat! I used to run a Cookbook Club and would like to start this up locally. Super simple premise – we meet once a month and all cook from a chosen cookbook (I’ll provide access to recipes and curate the menu). You cook at home and bring your dishes along to be eaten family-style. All cooking abilities and appetites are welcome. You don’t have to own or buy the cookbook to participate.
In January dishes were recipes from ‘Ripe Figs’ by Yasmin Khan.
Anya said: “This book is brimming with vibrant recipes and powerful stories from the islands that bridge the Mediterranean and the Middle East.
“For thousands of years, the eastern Mediterranean has stood as a meeting point between East and West, bringing cultures and cuisines through trade, commerce, and migration. Traveling by boat and land, Yasmin Khan traces the ingredients that have spread through the region from the time of Ottoman rule to the influence of recent refugee communities.”

In February the group will be meeting to eat dishes from ‘Korean Vegan’ by Joanne Lee Molinaro.
The single most frequent question Joanne Lee Molinaro gets asked is ‘How can you be vegan and Korean?’ Korean cooking is, after all, synonymous with fish sauce and barbecue. And although grilled meat is indeed prevalent in some Korean food, the ingredients that filled out the bapsangs of Joanne’s childhood – doenjang (fermented soybean paste), gochujang (chili sauce), dashima (seaweed), and more – are fully plant-based, unbelievably flavourful, and totally Korean. In her debut cookbook, Joanne shares recipes and narrative snapshots of the food that shaped her family history.
To secure your spot please send £5 to my PayPal account https://paypal.me/anyapeach
(please choose the friends and family option and leave your email address as a reference). If you don’t have PayPal please contact me to arrange alternative way to pay.
Once I receive the payment, I will send you an email with joining details and access to the recipes. From there, you will choose what you want to cook to bring along on the night.
On Tuesday 27th February, the group will meet at Winnersh Community Centre to share their creations, get to know each other and discuss possible cookbooks for next time. They will be dining family/buffet style.
