To help celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, Wokingham borough’s libraries are hosting a number of themed events.
Charity coffee morning
Celebrate the coronation at Lower Earley Library on Friday 5th May. Enjoy tea, coffee and homemade cakes from 10am to 12.30pm. This is a free event, but there will be a raffle and the event is helping to raise funds for The Hygiene Bank, which helps those who are unable to afford everyday essential products. They will also have a visit from Dr Bike.
Also included in this event is a royal reminiscence session, which runs from 10.30am to 12noon. Visitors can drop in and chat with their friendly volunteer about their memories of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and other royal events, while looking ahead to the Coronation of King Charles III.
Woodley Library celebration
Join staff from 10am on Saturday 6th May and enjoy a drink, cake and sweets as they celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III. This is a free event and there is no need to book, just drop in.
Royal crafting
Explore the topic of ‘What is heraldry?’ and create your own coat of arms in this fun craft session for adults at Wokingham Library on Wednesday 10th May. The session runs from 2pm to 4pm. This event is free but registration is required.
Coronation seeds
Celebrate the Coronation by picking up a free packet of seeds from your local library. The seeds will be for wildflowers in red, while and blue colours and they must be sown in May. When they have flowered, email pictures to li*******@wo*******.uk and we will post the results on our social media pages. There will be a small prize for the best photo.
Royal reminiscence
Do you remember the late Queen’s Coronation in 1953? Come and chat with their friendly volunteers at Woodley Library on Thursday 11th May. Share your memories of past royal occasions and also the Coronation of King Charles III from 10.30am to 12noon. This is a free event and there is no need to book, just drop in.
