The popular Twilight Runway Challenge returns on Saturday, September 16, encouraging people to get active whilst helping to raise money for a local, charitable cause. Participants can run, walk, cycle, scoot or skateboard along 3km, 5km or 10km of the airstrip of Blackbushe Airport (pictured above), taking part for fun or in support of a local charity or school of their choice.
This unique, family-friendly event is organised by CMPP (Community Matters Partnership Project) and is open to all ages and abilities. You can take part to get fit, beat your personal best, show off a fancy dress costume or have fun with friends, family or colleagues.
Simon Jarvis (CEO of CMPP) said: “CMPP is all about community and collaboration, and our Twilight Runway Challenge embodies this. Last year the event had a record number of people taking part and more than £39,000 was raised for local causes and we are hoping to raise even more this year.”
Two of the charities to benefit from last year’s event were Wokingham based First Days Children’s Charity and The Cowshed.
The Cowshed team who benefitted from last year’s event.
Stu has taken part multiple times and after finishing with his family last year he said “It was a great event, always a fun atmosphere – the kids loved it too and can’t wait to do it again next year! Thanks for organising such an awesome event”
The event is fortunate to have a diverse array of charity partners, including Sebastian’s Action Trust in Crowthorne. Amy Samuel (Executive Assistant) from the charity reveals “Sebastian’s Action Trust is very pleased to again partner with the Twilight Runway Challenge. This wonderful, unique event will help us to continue to raise vital funds and support families of seriously-ill children, as well as connect with the local community in Hampshire, Berkshire, Surrey – and beyond!”
The challenge would not be possible without the generous support of headline sponsors – local businesses Hi-Speed Services, Herrington Carmichael, Amazon Filters and Village Hotels – which helps to cover the event costs and enables 100% of fundraising to go to local causes. If you/your company are interested in being a headline sponsor please do get in touch with Anthea Rastall an************@cm**.uk
