Shelley Otway, the highly esteemed dance teacher and owner of Steppin’ Out Stars of Tomorrow in Wokingham Borough, has recently been recognised for her outstanding contributions to the dance industry.
At the prestigious Thames Valley Business Awards on Thursday night, Shelley impressed the judges with her exceptional teaching skills and dedication to her craft. She was shortlisted for the Female Entrepreneur of the Year and the Lifetime Achievement Award categories and scooped the Business Leader of the Year award.
Steppin’ Out Stars of Tomorrow under Shelley’s guidance, offers a wide range of dance styles including tap, modern, and many more. With her wealth of knowledge and expertise, Shelley has garnered a loyal following of students who have benefited from her instruction and passion for dance.
Having won a string of awards, Shelley continues to inspire and uplift those who walk through the doors of the ‘Steppin’ Out’ studio. Her commitment to excellence and her ability to nurture aspiring dancers have made her a valued figure within the Wokingham Borough community and the wider dance world.
Shelley told My Wokingham: “I am over the moon to receive this award. We are now planning to show the talents of our students with the dance troop heading to Blackpool for a major competition very soon.”
Steppin Out Stars of Tomorrow Theatre School was launched in 2015 for children aged three-and-a-half to 17 to help develop and encourage a love of performing arts, build confidence, build friendships and improve social skills.
With the support of an amazing team of talented teachers and a highly experienced Principal they have weekly classes in Wokingham and Woodley. Lessons can be taken in jazz, tap, singing, musical theatre, ballet, private singing, commercial and street dance. They have a specialist troupe and have lots of performing opportunities including a bi-annual show in a professional theatre and a trip to perform at Disneyland Paris every three years.
