Sunday morning 19th November 2022 in Wokingham’s Market Place saw Firefighters from Wokingham’s Green Watch alongside ambulance crews demonstrate how both firefighters and Ambulance crews deal with a car crash, and how they rescue people. Shoppers stood watching crews demonstrate a rescue learning how the emergency services remove a trapped person from a car. Ambulance teams coordinated with Fire crews and Police to develop their expertise.
There was a very large crowd of people who gathered in the Market place to watch the very skillful local lifesavers at work. As you can see many hours of training goes into how firefighters and Ambulance crews have to train. It took just an hour to rescue two firefighters from Wokingham fire station, as they cut there was around the car making sure every move and cut was carried out at the right time.
The Station Manager for Green watch told My Wokingham we don’t only put out fires we rescue lots of drivers from road crashes in the local area each year. He added our crews work very hard in their line of duty and would like to thank everyone who took the time on Sunday and came along and watch the rescue demonstration.
It is great to work with our skills alongside our friends at South Central Ambulance Service and Thames Valley Police. We have lots of narrow roads across the Wokingham area we would urge people to drive within the speed limits all the time and that would save many lives on our roads each year.
