The David Cliff Wokingham Half Marathon has hit full capacity. The event taking place on Sunday 25th February 2024 at Cantley Park, Twyford Road, Wokingham, RG40 5QG. On the day of the marathon, our team will be on-site, capturing the essence of the event for publication. Organised under UK Athletics rules, the marathon offers a closed-road course suitable for both first-time half marathoners and seasoned club runners aiming for personal bests. The competition also includes a fiercely contested affiliated club team event, where four participants contribute to the scores in both women’s and men’s categories.

Not only a thrilling race, the David Cliff Wokingham Half Marathon is a force for good, supporting various local causes and community groups. The event thrives on the assistance of volunteers from these organizations, who help with marshalling, managing water stations, and overseeing the race village. Whether running or volunteering, become an integral part of the Wokingham Half Marathon community.
The marathon’s route is predominantly flat, providing a swift out-and-back experience on fully closed roads. Starting with a 600m ascent into the town centre, the route descends until mile two, then follows a quick and straightforward course with minimal directional changes. Recognized for its speed, the route has hosted international trials, and local championships, and even achieved a vet cat world best time in 2023.

Water stations are strategically positioned at 3 miles, 5.7 miles, 8.5 miles, and 11.5 miles, while medical and support points are scattered along the course. For a smooth and secure marathon experience, road closures will be in effect on Sunday, 25th February, from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. Vehicle movement will be facilitated before 9:00 am in the town centre and other areas. Post this time, all closures will be fully enforced, with sections reopening gradually to accommodate the runners’ progress. The town centre, residential roads, and diversion routes marked in black are expected to reopen by 10:45 am, while all other roads will resume normalcy by 1:15 pm.
