The RG postcode derby took place this Tuesday at Wokingham’s home ground.
Emmbrook won the toss and elected to field on a very hot evening.
Wokingham got away to a quick start with 27 off the first three overs, before the first of three runouts brought around the first wicket. The runs were still flowing fast when Keogh Shalto bowled the dangerous Ferreira for 31 run off just 15 balls. Emmbrook attack slowly stopped the runs until Wokingham’s Akshay Dhanda smashed 43 off 27 balls near the end of the innings to give Wokingham an intimidating score of 175-5 off their 20 overs.
Emmbrook’s reply didn’t start well with opener Matt Booth and in-form Jason Middleton both out with only 13 on the board. This brought in Andy Lazenbury to partner Matt Loxton in a third-wicket stand of 62 before Loxton holed out for 54 to leave Emmbrook at 75-3.
Jake David joined Lazenbury who set about Wokingham’s bowlers, Lazenbury hitting 5 fours and 6 sixes, in his of 75 not out and David chipping in with 34 runs off 25 balls with 5 fours to see Emmbrook to victory by Seven wickets with two overs left
